General Praise

From Robin L. Shiflett…

Edge of your seat suspense. Had to read all 3 of her books. All excellent!

From Sybil Morley…

Yet another great thriller set in New Orleans, with protagonists Alex DeStephano and policeman Jack Francoise

From….Thomas

These are easily the best novels I have read all year long.

Chaos at Crescent City Medical Center

From B.P…

Chaos at Crescent City Medical Center by Judith Lucci is a wonderfully exciting medical thriller filled with ongoing suspense. There are medical politics that will keep you entertained and crime investigation that will grab your attention. I loved the characters and enjoyed the ongoing drama. This is a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I didn’t want to put it down. So well written that you could see the scenes play out in front of you.  B.P.

From A.C…

Terrific, engrossing medical drama and thriller, with cleverly-developed plot and story-line. Alexandra Destephano, legal counsel for Crescent City Medical Center in New Orleans, is thrown head-first into a swirling mass of intrigue and mystery when an important person is found unconscious and bloodied in her room. Throw into the mix that this is the time of Mardi Gras, with its celebrations, parties, balls and massive crowds, and we have a wonderful combination of setting, plot and character-development.

From J.T…

When you find an author who writes with a style that makes you not want the book to end, I consider that a home run! And home run is exactly what I got with Chaos! From page one, I was hooked. A tenacious, beautiful, highly educated strong willed protagonist by the name of Alexandra Destephano takes on a horrific chain of events that will leave you breathless. CCMC hospital in New Orleans has been tagged as the target of a sinister group. There is voodoo, gris gris, violence and you wonder if the evil spirits are lurking or is this the act of vicious mobsters? Are politics involved? Is Alex's ex-husband involved or being targeted?

From M.G…

Dr. Judith Lucci’s “Chaos” stands up there in my list of all-time favorites right beside Graham Greene’s “The Power and the Glory”. Why? The scented trail of Voodoo! Her New Orleans of today reeks like Papa Doc’s Port-au-Prince of the 50s. Mardi Gras comes to life in all of its cultural depth and color. But it’s the humanity of the people and the way the medical tale weaves in and out of the life of the city that intrigued me.  About Green’s book, it is said that the Pope himself reassured the author about his criticisms of the priesthood. Judith Lucci’s social polemic reaches into the depths of the medical system in America today. Her peoples’ lives cut incisively into the system by example and lay bare the ‘heart of the matter’.
The food, the drinking, the nightlife and all the lust and fantasy surrounding the Mardi Gras intertwined beautifully with the story of the gorgeous Alexandra’s complex life in Crescent City Medical Center. I am a fan. Will pick up her other books and read ‘em all in a row.

THE IMPOSTER

From Tassy…

The Imposter by Judith Lucci is an impressive medical thriller of the highest quality. The author pulls out all the stops in this book #2 of her Alex Destephano series to create a grab-you-by-the-scruff-of-your-neck action thriller. The characters are brilliantly written to the extent they popped out of every page and the author used multiple POV to perfection never causing confusion.
Alex Destephano the hospital lawyer at Crescent City Medical Center once again has her hands full as a poorly run psych ward explodes into violence leaving the hospital at the mercy of massive law suits. Worse still, the staff are brutally attacked by a sexual predator of monstrous proportions. She and ace cop Jack Francoise must solve the attacks which escalate to murder before the hospital loses all credibility.

From Jen T….

Have you ever found yourself reading a book slowly because you didn't want it to end? That's exactly what I've done with both of the Judith Lucci books I've read and I am now officially a fan of hers. I was hooked after reading Chaos, but now after finishing this page turner, I'm left wanting more. The beautiful landscape and heritage of New Orleans is once again forefront in The Imposter. The characters you came to love in Chaos - Alex, Jack, Robert, Monique and the annoying Don grace the pages of this thriller.

From Sally G….

This book is great! Well constructed story line, strong, smart female leads and interesting character development. I am a medical professional, as is this author, and the clinical background for the story is true to form, believable and factually correct. This makes it an even more appealing novel to me. Can't wait to read Dr. Lucci's next endeavor!

From Kenneth….

Thrillers are a favorite genre, so I read a lot of them and this one was a nice surprise find. The Imposter (Alex Destephano) by Judith Lucci is a medical thriller and it is so authentic that I had to look the author up and find out is she had a background in the medical profession – sure enough, she’s a doctor. But on top of the fantastic details, there is real suspense. The book is written in a tough gritty style that totally fits the story. She also mixes in the wonderful flavor and feel of New Orleans. But my favorite part of the book was the characters, some quirky and a few annoyed me, and some I actually cared about – just like real life. Highly recommended read, five stars.

From Book Collector

Lucci continues to amaze me with her chilling medical thrillers. This is the second of her books that I have read and once again, it is a winner. The Imposter is thought-provoking and captivating at the same time and in many regards, seems to be an expose' on the challenges medical professionals face when working with patients with a mental illness. I loved getting to know Alex, Jack and Robert a little better and the voices of the new characters were loud and clear. I was able to see and visualize the characters in my mind and the setting in New Orleans was clearly described. The scenes were clearly terrifying and descriptive and the novel was fast-paced and full of action. She kept me guessing throughout the book and only at the very end did I find the real killer.

VIRAL INTENT

From Anoymous…

Lucci’  Viral Intent is a true political/medical thriller, and is one of the best I have ever read! The story is captivating and terrifying at the same time. Her research in this book is impeccable and as always, her knowledge of medicine and healthcare is abundant. Her characters continue to remain believable and true to life. The plot is well constructed and moves quickly. It was a quick read for me because she hooked me from the very beginning I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next.

From Bob Rector

Dr. Lucci has crafted a fast-paced nightmare scenario that is all too real. Just turn on your TV to the evening news. I was not only rooting for Alex and Jack, but also for one of my favorite American cities which has already demonstrated its vulnerability to catastrophic events. Her depiction of this colorful and unique city is right on target. Perhaps it's a tribute to Dr.Lucci’s writing skills that I found myself thinking, “Oh no, not again.”

From Jan Raymond…

Viral Intent takes over from where Robin Cook and James Patterson leave off. It is refreshing to read a new author of a medical mystery/thriller series and have a new heroine to root for. Judith Lucci has in depth knowledge of the medical field especially in the field of medical research and testing. When I read a book i not only look for a story, but also enjoy the background that it is set in, and the little snippets of interesting and sometimes alarming information that it contains. The author has brought that to the book and more. It brings the city alive and fear grips you as the protagonists race against time    Jan Raymond

From Reggie…..
A well researched and well presented medical thriller. You the reader will be amazed at the depth of this story.  Dr. Lucci has written a wonderful, intriguing, novel that will keep you turning the pages to reach a brilliant conclusion.

The many twists and turns of this novel are astounding. I would recommend the reading of it. All of Lucci’s characters are well presented and believable.   I could not put it down; I was very impressed with the smoothness as it delved into political lives as well as the medical aspects that you will have to read to believe.

From Book Lover…

Gripping political and medical intrigue.

This well researched novel grips the reader from the beginning. The plot seems fearfully real and I found myself hooked from beginning to the conclusion. The author has the ability to write great characters free from stereotyping. It takes a writer of skill and one with a good background in the subject matter to write a medical thriller this good. I'll be back for more of this author's work. I highly recommend Viral Intent.
